I was passed a site design the other day to chop into XHTML/CSS and I knew right away I was going to have to deal with IE6 and transparent PNGs. There are many of these out there but there are a few that have, for me, stood out so I thought I would try and list a few of my favourites and layout some of their pros and cons.
My girlfriend asked me earlier about learning web design, she wants to learn something new and possibly something that could grow into a way of earning some extra money. As I am on hand to help with web design, this seemed like the obvious choice.
Having been to uni I am well aware of the trouble with learning web design in an academic environment. Tutors are often along way behind the industry, courses are encouraged to teach software rather than the technologies behind them due to sponsorship by the companies that make them, and on top of that web design is such a broad subject encompassing so many areas it would be hard to teach even a little bit of them all. Knowing this I thought the best route would be to find a decent intro to web design course to get started then I could help her with good sites to read and what to learn through tutorials.
I have been a bit busy with work recently so I have not posted much recently. In the process of doing lots of work I have run into lots of problems. Today I finished up on a page on the site I am working on and tested in all the usual browsers, and lo and behold Internet Explorer 6 made it look wierd.

The fantastic looking Magento eCommerce system has recently come out of beta. Having tried osCommerce and Zen Shopping cart for a few projects I have found that customising them to make good looking eCommerce sites can be an uphill struggle to say the least!

I have just found out that I have been awarded site of the day on Daily Slurp. I am, obviously, really pleased with being featured. It’s a real honour to know that other people in the industry like my work!

We, as in I along with my good friend Liam at lowercase, have launched a web app. We (mostly Liam, the code genius) have built a collection of tools and resources that we as web designers and developers use on a regular basis. Currently these include md5 hash encryption, UNIX timestamp conversion, email obfuscation, standard web banner sizes and social network code generation.
